«Rhizome» — дебютный альбом Никиты Забелина, его первый лонгплей и, по стечению обстоятельств, его самая на сегодняшний день амбициозная музыкальная работа. Если кратко, то перед нами — попытка объять необъятное, а в случае Забелина — зафиксировать в звуке и визуализировать полное отсутствие себя, пустоту.
Сложные генеративные паттерны и грубые абстрактные мелодии очерчивают хрупкие контуры уверенными мазками и вспахивают пустые пространства, ни на секунду не позволяя слушателю отвлечься.
Никита создал необычные аранжировки — импульсивные и при этом победоносно завоёвывающие внимание публики, они объединяют условные запчасти, из которых обычно собирают IDM-конструкторы, с минималистичными эмбиент фонами. Они как будто отрицают основные мелодии и правила, по которым традиционно строятся композиции электронных жанров, смещая акценты в сторону скрытого и не услышанного. Это — громадный всплеск невидимого, нетривиальное усилие, чтобы поместить слушателя в центр внимания, а не навязать ему собственный авторский нарратив.
Альбом «Rhizome» открывает созданные Никитой Забелиным бесконечные пространства, которые требуют встречи со своими будущими обитателями — его слушателями.
Представьте себе лабиринт, соединяющий множество комнат между собой. Вы не знаете, что ждёт вас в следующей комнате, будет ли это ваша радость, ваши страхи или вы сами, но на десять лет моложе. В треклисте Rhizome каждая композиция — отдельная пустая комната, которую слушатель может наполнить собой и своим восприятием. Вакуум здесь оживает, как только ощутит ваше присутствие. Он обладает фантазией, он честен и даже разрушителен. Свободное пространство может принимать любую форму в зависимости от желания того, кто слушает Rhizome.
Рождённый и повзрослевший на среднем Урале, Никита сформировался среди бесконечных необитаемых просторов своего края и ежедневных жизненных трудностей индустриального города, когда-то основанного ради металлургии и тяжёлого машиностроения. Музыка Забелина стала воплощением будущего, которое обещало выделить ему свободное пространство в мире, полном ограничений, для невидимого и неслышимого.
Rhizome — результат целого десятилетия творческой работы Никиты Забелина. Этот альбом знакомит публику с одним из наиболее интересных восточноевропейских электронных музыкантов нашей эпохи. Альбом выйдет в свет 29 ноября 2019 на лейбле Resonance Moscow.

«Rhizome» is Nikita Zabelin’s first solo album release and coincidentally his most ambitious musical work yet. The attempt to musically grasp and visualize the unseizable: The invisible and absolute absence of the self. ’Emptiness’.
Complex generative patterns and brute abstract melodies paint brittle contours around harrowing empty spaces with such confident strokes, capturing the listener’s attention in every moment.
Nikita’s unusual, impulsive yet gloriously catchy arrangements combine deconstructed IDM and minimalistic ambient sounds. They seem to be intentionally negating lead melodies and classic compositional structures, putting the focus on the unheard and hidden. It’s a vast uprising of the concealed. An unconventional effort to put the listener in the center of attention rather than to enforce a suppressive narrative onto them.
With ’Rhizome’ Nikita Zabelin creates infinite spaces that are demanding to be encountered by its audience.
Imagine a labyrinth that connects many rooms. You don’t know what expects you in each of them. Your joy is here, your fears are here, the ten-year younger you is here too. In Rhizome, each track is an empty room that only an individual listener can fill with their view and personal perception. It’s a void that comes to life when you start walking through it, not afraid to be imaginative, honest, or even deconstructive. An open fluid space for the listener that can be formed and become anything they want.
Born and raised in the central part of the Urals Nikita’s life has been shaped by the endless expanse of unpopulated landscapes and the harsh daily grind of a steel industrial urban city. Music became the embodiment of a future that offered space for the unheard and unsighted in a world full of restrictions.
’Rhizome’ is the offering of an entire decade’s worth of work. It showcases one of the most exciting Eastern experimental electronic artists of our time. Due out on November 29, 2019, on Resonance Moscow.

Nikita Zabelin on the album context:

Capturing the sounds, and recording music was a way for me to avoid getting into a conflict with the surrounding world, hiding in the depths of tones and multi-level textures. The audio canvas was a safe territory where I spent time with my thoughts without anyone else. The aspiration of harmony and balance was depicted not in melodies but in how separate sounds were placed within the tracks and interacted with each other. I tried not to asound any statements that would make me responsible in front of the listener in any case. I already made a choice that is quite controversial. I was born at the border of two solid periods, the breakdown of the Soviet Union and the birth of the new Russia, I absorbed all the contradictions of those changing times. The conflict between morality and survival forced me to escape society and lock myself up in the world of sounds, without any external contact. I’m observing the endless horizon from the heights of the Ural mountains. Bright sun and crispy snow under my feet. Fresh wind and silence. Always alone and always with that feeling of something forthcoming and unpredictable, be it silent nature or a trustless city.

Lena «Fabulous Beasts» Gromovaya was born and raised in the city of Kursk in Russia. In 2009 she graduated from the State Stroganov Academy of Design and Applied Arts in Moscow.  These days she works in her usual style of surrealism, reflecting on the theme of aspirations for the sublime and irreversible changes in the Universe.

In 2018, it began with a new stage — sci-fi-inspired surreal sculpture. The first theme was a predatory flower, it conceptualized the embodiment of a certain optical illusion. The tenderness and fragility of the petals come into dissonance with a poisonous core that carries an effect of surprise, a secret that is characteristic only for the flower, an extraordinary life, and a string of puzzles that help stimulate consciousness and imagination. Developing her approach to creating sculptures, Lena borrows the experience of various techniques. What remains unchanged and undeniable is the color, it’s the key point for transmitting emotional stress at the visual and subconscious levels, and only then unusual form and texture come into play.
